Let the Glory of the Lord Arise- Prayer

Hello community,

I am a firm believer in a God that is greater than I could ever be. I share prayers on this blog because I believe that it is crucial for you and I to bring God in the mist of our parenting techniques. Why, because we don’t know all of the answers, and surprisingly letting our hands go at times brings the greatest clarity and even comfort. So, as you read the following prayer, let go of the stress and allow God to intervene and fill in the gaps of what’s missing in your day, your energy, and even your parenting ability.

Heavenly Father,

I ask that You let the Glory of the Lord rise upon me, according to Isaiah 60 verse 2. I ask You Lord to let Your Glory be seen on me throughout this day and to always show the mind of You Lord today and every day.

Heavenly Father I ask that when anyone looks upon me this day, they will see you Lord in and around me. Let every action that I do today proclaim you Lord in every way. In Jesus name we pray.

Amen

What is Self-Care?

While the whole world stands still, one thing that is being suggested is self-care! But who knows what that means? How do you take care of yourself when times seem to be so unsure and stressful?

Self-care is when you take time to do something for you, even if it only lasts a few minutes. Self- Care is acknowledging that you too matter. Self-care is a moment in the day when you close the door to stress, tasks, and to-do’s and focus on the healing and uplifting of your mind, heart and spirit. It doesn’t have to complicated, just intentional.

I want to shout out a helpful site called wholefully.com who gave a condensed list of some “stay at home” self-care ideas.

Things to do for self care:

  • Give myself a pedicure or a manicure.
  • Read a book or magazine for an hour.
  • Sit on the front porch. …
  • Take a bubble bath—complete with candles and calming music.
  • Pick or buy a bouquet of fresh flowers.
  • Take a leisurely walk without a goal.

New patterns New habits

This time in the home has allowed me to evaluate some of our family habits. The number one thing I noticed was our family’s diet. I have children who are 5 and 7 and somewhere  in the planet of parenting I decided that my children’s pickiness determined what we would have for meals and snacks… when in all actuality, I want health to be the priority. This transition of control was not a quick or obvious one, I didn’t notice before this quarantine that I had modified my selections for their preferences.

So, what am I doing about it??? Simple, I have been slowly changing the pattern for our family. Through this quarantine in have ordered more fruits and veggies. Also, I have switched all of the regular chips for baked chips, these changes may seem small and insignificant to the average bear, but I have a plan. Small subtle changes allow my little geniuses time and appreciation for the new selection of snacks and meals. Instead of being alarmed… they are intrigued, and as a family we are creating better habits.

Have you noticed family habits that you haven’t before this quarantine? What are you going to do about it??

I am not my condition!

As a wife, mother, sister, and friend one of the first things I thought of when being diagnosed was –

How am I going to be great in my relationships when I require so much time, effort, and attention in life?

The answer is to just be me. I can not live a life comparing myself to others around me or on social media. The person I am in this season of my life still deserves love and has the capacity to love others.

For me, the diagnosis made me speed up the process of loving and accepting myself for who I am and who l am not.  I do not get it right every day, but I have daily reminders that affirm me and encourage the constantly evolving life that is mine.

I am Changing:

The first thing I had to learn with having an autoimmune disease was to take a moment to mourn the old me.

One of the hardest things to do with the diagnosis is to admit that things had in fact changed. As a mother, entrepreneur, and veteran I was used to being able to get up and go workout, be a choreographer, play with my children or even cleaning my own home, but the reality now is that I cannot do all of that. As a matter of fact, I can’t do most of it.

To take care of my body I had to now make different life decisions and that is not easy. I wanted to do what I used to do especially because visually I look the way I have always looked. I am a person of faith, but I had to increase my knowledge of my body and my health. I had to put the attention I used to work outside of the home and direct that energy into learning about me.

If you are going through a life change no matter what the change entails, it is ok to mourn the old you. Acknowledge what was, honor that person from the past so that you can welcome and usher in the new you.

If you do not mourn and put away the old you, your past persona will then become a weighted blanket smothering your new potential. Because don’t forget. just because your different doesn’t mean you’re any less magnificent!

Why Meditate?

To Reduce stress!
One of the main benefits of meditation is stress reduction. Meditating in quite contemplation can help you relax, find peace of mind and ease tension so that you can control and manage your stress levels. Stress causes your heart rate and blood pressure to go up and too much of that can create health issues. Meditating for a few minutes every day helps you to let go of stress to achieve a relaxed state of mind.

Meditation Monday:

Do you know how to find peace?

During the last 8 months of my life, I have been through the most transformative experiences. Experiences that made me evaluate my values, passions, and direction in life. One thing that stood firm in this time of transition was the need for peace. I gained some things, lost some things but found a true center, a solid direction that is unwavering. This came by asking myself honest questions. I encourage you to use the last few months of this year and ask some difficult questions that will lead you to a bright and clear 2020. Welcome, a 2020 that is surrounded by peace.

Questions:

  1. What do I want out of life?
  2. Why?
  3. What is the basis of my faith/ why do I believe what I believe?

Rocky Roads

One of the greatest challenges in being “great” is developing patients. Patients to keep learning, keep pressing, keep smiling, keep being kind, to keep being hopeful even when things look to be going opposite of your way. Patients is one of the fruits of the spirit which is love.

True love says that “For God so loved the world that He gave” so giving is the personality of God and the personality of love. Why is it important to know this??? Because if you are in a relationship with God, then you must understand that love makes you wait because love perfects your gift before giving it to you.

For example, I can run to Walgreens and pick up any card and any gift, put it in a random bag and give my husband the present.  But… because I love him, I go to the store look for a gift that would make him smile. I take the time to go up and down each aisle until I find something he would love and enjoy. Lastly, I choose a bag to wrap this gift into something that makes the present shine.  If I love my husband enough to do all of this, how much do you think God loves us.

Yes, God wants us to have what we need and desire, but He doesn’t want to give it to us haphazardly. God takes His time, chooses the best gift with the best wrapping delivered in the best time so that it’s not only appreciated but cherished. Today, exercise patients and watch God bless you with a gift greater than you ever expected.

A true Father takes the lead

I love my Bishop Holcomb… He just knocked me out of my see with a revelation. So many times in our relationship with God, as Christians, we tend to think that life in Christ means a life without problems when that is not true. Life with Christ means that no matter what situation you are in, God is able to help you!

Bad things happen to all people, but because you have God, you have tools such as increased PEACE and His POWER so that you can handle the bad!!!!

How????

Like this- When you have an understanding that God is greater than your trial or tribulations, you then understand that in God everything will be alright. God extend His power to us so that when trials come, we can rest easy because as Christians we understand the victory is already ours. Now it’s time for you to tell yourself who wins … the enemy which may also be called your situation, or God?  When you choose God, you are taking your hands off of the situation and allowing God to lead. The beauty of God leading is that He is a guaranteed win, there is not a failure in God… Don’t believe me, read your word.

You can go ahead and shout now… that’s life changing information!
